Snow-in-summer's striking combination of snow-white blooms covering low silver foliage can stop passersby in their tracks. Blooming in late spring or early summer, it's an excellent plant for any sunny, well-drained spot, such as a raised bed, rock garden, or wall, and is good in combination with spring-blooming bulbs.
Notable Varieties
'Yo Yo' is a less-invasive cultivar.
Care
Likes poor, loose, very well-drained soil; best with moderate moisture but is also drought-tolerant. Cut back after flowering. Fertilize little if at all. It can become invasive in sites where it's well-suited and where soil is fertile, but it will die out in hot, humid areas.
Planting
Plant established plants in spring in all zones or fall in Zones 7 to 9. Siting is important; plant where it will receive excellent drainage.
Pests and Diseases
Usually pest- and disease-free but will develop root rot in wet conditions.
