Downy serviceberry is best suited to a naturalistic planting; in cultivation, it reaches 15 to 25 feet tall, with a variable spread. The short-lived white flowers bloom in late April and have a slightly unpleasant scent. In June, t bears red berries that attract birds. In fall, the dark-green leaves turn to yellow, orange, or dark red.
