A couple things to keep in mind when doing a pushup, you want to make sure your fingertips are properly aligned with your shoulders; your abdominals are contracted as well as your gluts. Here is an example. A couple of things to keep in mind when doing your pushup is not letting your lower back sag to the ground or overextending your neck to touch the ground. I will give you some examples of a bad pushup. A couple of ways to make a pushup harder would be to elevate your feet on a bench or this ball here will do. I'm going to demonstrate a pushup with my feet on the ball. One of the advantages for using the ball, such as this red ball here, is it creates an unstable environment in that it requires you to engage your abdominal muscles when doing you pushups.
