Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

These tasty "hot" appetizers are made with jalapeno peppers halves--filled with Italian turkey sausage and cream cheese, and wrapped with turkey bacon.

Ingredients:

• 2 (12 ounce) packages sweet Italian turkey sausage
• 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
• 30 jalapeno chili peppers
• 1 pound sliced turkey bacon, cut in half crosswise

Method:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly browned. Drain sausage and place in a large bowl. Mix with the cream cheese. Cut jalapenos in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds. Stuff each half of jalapeno pepper with some of the sausage-cream cheese mixture. Wrap a half-slice of turkey bacon around each pepper half. Secure bacon with toothpicks. Arrange the wrapped jalapenos in a large, shallow baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 20 minutes, or until the bacon is evenly brown.
Notes:

Number of servings: makes 60 poppers (20 servings)
